From this coming Friday, 15th October 2021, there is a new decree-law that will be in force in Italy which requires the compulsory possession of a ‘Green Pass’ for anyone who must access a business facility. There are no exceptions, even though the Trade Associations are trying to obtain an exemption for drivers who would remain inside their truck.
If a Green Pass is not available, the person must provide a proof of vaccination (Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna or Janssen) or a negative result of a rapid molecular (72 hours validity) or antigen test (48 hours validity). We have already started to advise companies that there could be possible delays in collections/deliveries.
We should all be aware that additional difficulties are that some drivers either refuse to have any vaccine, or have been vaccinated with a vaccine which is not recognised by the Italian government. In such cases, where evidence of negative tests need to be provided, there will likely be a surge for demand which will also exacerbate delays.
Naturally, we shall do our utmost to maintain schedules and meet delivery requirements, but these cannot be guaranteed. We understand that this is a temporary measure, currently in place until 31st December 2021.
Please keep in contact with our operational teams for updates on shipments and any further information.
